Match Report Game 20: Segra Academy vs Old Mutual Academy
Date published: 28 March 2013 by Damon Hintsa
Old Mutual Academy came out with a lot more confidence in their match up against Segra Academy, an invitational team from Nigeria, who were introduced to the Metropolitan U19 Premier Cup, with a Morne Nel strike from the edge of the box that found the back of the net. Segra couldn't counter the highly energetic Cape outfit. Sekela Sithole's movement off the ball was impressive with his one touch passing through the middle. Old Mutual’s captain Morne Nel sent his strike from distance into the top corner, which saw them go into the break with a two goal lead.
Segra Academy's Chinonye C Okonkwo pulled a goal back when he snuck through a static Old Mutual defence to head home from a set piece. The game opened up as the debutants started attacking with purpose. Midway through the second half Segra’s Tochukwu Ekwu capitalised on an Old Mutual player, Mujahid George, who was caught off his line, and lobbed the ball into the top corner to equalise.
With the final whistle approaching, Old Mutual Ryan Steer steered in the winning goal from the eighteen yard area after some good passing from the centre of the park.
Final score: Old Mutual Academy 3 – Segra Academy 2
